I posted about K'NAAN's quest to help out with the Somalian tragedies the other day...just came across another article and video about the whole event.
Looks like the former United States president Bill Clinton has recognized K'NAAN for his efforts, pretty wild! If you want to check out the video and article in full, click…
This photo essay is definitely worth checking out. A relatively brief but eye opening journey through the 60 worst ranking states on the 2011 Failed States Index, with K'naan's birthplace, Somalia, taking the number one spot. It's easy to forget how… Continue

For K'naan, tomorrow is is quite a day, as it is the national day of both the land of his birth and his adoptive homeland here in Canada. On 1 July 1867, the British North America Act became law, and created the Dominion of Canada, and on 1 July 1960 the former Italian colony of Somalia Italiana, a trust territory of the United Nations since the conclusion of the Second World War, merged with British Somaliland to form the independent Republic of Somalia.
K'Naan performs "Somalia" unplugged at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on May 28th. Not only do you get the unplugged song, but you get to witness K'Naan telling some guy to quit being disrespectful. Man, I'd hate to be that… Continue
Just a few days ago, I was cracking up, laughing about the hilarious episode South Park did on Kanye. I often hold the creators of this show with a certain regard, for I believe, good comedy will from time to time, hold a mirror up to society's collective face. So that we may look at ourselves and burst out in laughter, even if the frowns of self examination follow. I gotta say though, Kanye handled it well. The homie and I have some mutual friends and I don't remember ever making a remark to… Continue
It's a conspiracy. It must be. That's the only logical explanation to the pirate drama we witnessed a couple of weeks ago. Think about it: a little over a month after K'naan's album dropped--an album containing several references to pirates w/ torpedoes--this happened. It appears that K'naan has successfully recruited his fellow countrymen to promote his album, although whether or not the tactic was successful remains to be seen.
Recently I read this story and it made me say - WHAT?
Somali terror threat serious but could fade At least 20 men from the U.S. have gone to Somalia to join a jihadist group http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29643972/
Maybe my ears are more in tune now for the past couple of years to Somalia because of K'naan. However, I have always kept my ears open to hear of what goes on with the African immigrants… Continue

GENEVA (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe is "a mad dictator" who has lost all sense of reality, a United Nations human rights expert said on Monday.
The only way Mugabe can be removed from power is for Europe to convince his "great protector South Africa" to withdraw all support for him, Jean Ziegler, an adviser to the U.N.'s Human Rights… Continue
