Former President Bill Clinton gives K'NAAN props

I posted about K'NAAN's quest to help out with the Somalian tragedies the other day...just came across another article and video about the whole event.

Looks like the former United States president Bill Clinton has recognized K'NAAN for his efforts, pretty wild! If you want to check out the video and article in full, click…

Dear K'NAAN:

It is my greatest hope that the famine and suffering in Somalia will end; however, that does not seem to be happening.  And while each day passes, more children and adults die a horrible death as the world watches from afar and can do little to help.  It seems to me that the politics involved propose such an international problem that to intervene seems unlikely.  Getting aid in DOES NOT WORK.  So try GETTING THEM OUT!  If countries found stable, loving volunteer families to provide foster care… Continue

K'NAAN helps to benefit recent famine

I was just checking out the CTV News website and came across an interesting video update regarding K'NAAN's efforts to help out the recent victims of the famine and tragedies in Somalia. I hope more and more people follow K'NAAN's direction and help out those in need.

The video draws upon K'NAAN's journeys as he was growing up and the fact that he had to rise…

Famine to Feast charity fundraiser

I'm a senior at Solon High School in Ohio, and I'm currently organizing a fundraiser called Famine to Feast. The drought combined with the conflict in the Horn of Africa has been devastating, and it's our duty to stand up and give these innocent bystanders a chance to survive.

On November 15-18, I will be fasting to raise awareness for this famine. For each meal that I skip, I will donate $3.00 and students from my school will be supporting me by donating the equivalent of what they…

Interview on the Takeaway

Just found this great interview with K'NAAN on the The Takeaway Radio Show. He talks about his most recent trip to Somalia. Was really interesting to hear K'NAAN talk about his return to the hospital where he was born, and the struggle that goes on in that hospital. Everyone should hear this interview. Click… Continue

Bill Clinton and K'NAAN

Bill Clinton and K'NAAN at the closing of the Clinton Global Initiative meetings. This really shows the difference that K'NAAN is making, especially in Somalia. K'NAAN has worked extremely hard to try and help the people of Somalia and I truly believe that it is working. The fact that Bill Clinton is there acknowledging K'NAAN and his work really shows how much K'NAAN is doing. Check it out by… Continue

Famine Lyrics for the People of Somalia: People Like Me

Heaven, is there a chance that you could come down

and open doors from hurting the Somali

The Somali (4x)

Is it fair to say that I am stressing out

I'm in Somalia and God there's just no way out

My homeys said goodbye without even crying

My children said that we're gonna die trying

How she had enough strength to make the pilgrimage

and with her good health it wouldn't have been a problem

but they don't understand the power of such suffering

more than… Continue

Famine, poverty of a world who let's others die

I cry with K'NAAN and all of you, whom are profoundly broken-hearted by the suffering and famine in Somalia and around the globe.  The only common threads we all share globally are that we all are born, we eat, we dream, we sleep, and we die.  Not everyone can love.  The fortunate are fulfilled.  The unfortunate are left hollow.  It is what you value most.  Love is the most important.  Mothers, fathers, children, and all those suffering from famine are dying and there is something that the…

K'NAAN Performance at CIGI Campus

Cool article written about K'NAAN's recent performance at the opening day of the CIGI Campus...the article notes that K'NAAN fans were, "visibly excited by their proximity to the famous musician, who ran through the group delivering encouraging high-fives at the end of the performance." Pretty sweet to see someone that has achieved success but still remains humble...

Why America should care

It is easy to live in the little bubble of America and not realize the severity of the situations going on overseas. Before the internet, it was easy to stay unaware of what was going on in the world, but with the booming global society we live in today, ignoring others anguish is NOT an option! I believe that even if there is nothing… Continue

Right after K'NAAN got back from visiting Somalia, to try and help those who are impoverished within the country and its surrounding area, he went to the Toronto Film Festival (with Bono!) to try and convince people that something needed to be done. K'NAAN also announced that he will establish a fund to help with famine relief… Continue
