Respect goes out to the one K'naan, for coming from where you did and surviving to tell the truth. Your music is one of a kind, and the latest on Troubadour is just fantastic!
I'm originally from T.O. and am well aware of the Rexdale area, & the zellers plaza enough times as a kid.. hehe, that was life. Look forward to you coming to Vancouver, Commodore Ballroom w/ Esthero in March.. :)
Peace,
Cory

Greetings. It's been almost a week since Troubadour hit stores.
And for that whole time, the album has been in the top 5 on iTunes
America and Canada. A friend told me that, sometimes it's nice to
sit back and smell some roses. I'm taking a deep breath at this moment.
Because what a special thing it is to see all this positive feedback
pouring in. From magazines to the streets, artists to new fans,
I'm really grateful for what everyone has to say, and for this… Continue
Just saw K'naan at S.O.B.'s in NYC. He's amazing. Also saw him last summer at the All Points West festival in Jersey City. This photo, taken by Josh DeHonney (www.joshdehonney.com), is from that show. It was the first time I heard "Wavin' Flag," which instantly touched me. If you are just discovering K'naan, make sure to get his first album, also. It's just as fresh as the new one. Thanks for making beautiful music, K'naan.… Continue

K'NAAN in NYC on 2.26 - After a HUGE show at SOB's on Wednesday night, we got to see K'NAAN do a stripped down version of Somalia and a couple other tunes. The place was packed and people really got it. This video is… Continue
K'naan and 2Serenity (Jennifer is my real name but 2Serenity gives me street credibility!!)
"Coffins closings" was the phrase I had to hear K'naan sing live which is from his song, "Somalia" that I adore for it is the truth.
K'naan's performance at S.O.B.'s in New York City was fantastic. The energy was electric to the point that I believe the majority of those in attendance to his performance last night were there to… Continue
Somali-born rapper K'Naan may have exchanged the cross-fire of civil war for the rapid-fire of hip hop and rap, but in his latest album Troubadour, Somalia is still every present.
K'Naan, born Kanaan Warsame, fired his first gun at the age of eight. At 11, he found a hand grenade, detonated it by mistake and blew up half his school. Later, he saw three of his closest friends shot… Continue

A thousand lifetimes have passed since
my Passion first spoke unto me these words:
'Go forth and speak that which is locked
within the timelessness of your soul and trust
the listener to understand.'
But the voice of my Wisdom answered:
'It would be better, perhaps, to leave the Truth unsaid;
For the listener shall hear your words that clothe the Truth,
but will not see through the veil of their disguise.'

K'naan's music sounds a little like Eminem's, if Slim Shady had spent his childhood dodging bullets in Somalia's civil war. The 30-year-old hip-hop artist (born Kaynaan Warsame) grew up on the mean streets of Mogadishu and escaped in 1991 on one of the last… Continue

I wanna start by saying thanks to all of those who
have shared with me, in person or online, how much
you've been moved by my music. This great response
is encouraging. You must understand that a lot of artist these
days are losing motivation. I know intimately, many would-be
great artists who are being shackled by the business of music
today. Sales are low across the board, because most people
are not really interested in buying music. I… Continue
