K'Naan, could you please try and help the retired British couple, Rachel and Paul Chandler who were sailing past Somalia and were kidnapped? They have been held captive for 3 months now and the British Government refuses to pay the ransom and they have no children to help them. Perhaps you could appeal to the better senses of the pirates and help the couple be released? Here is a website showing the video of these two appealing to anyone to help them, with the armed Somali pirates behind… Continue
The first time I heard K'Naan was in Whistler BC. They opened for Steven and Damion Marley. I was set back with the lyrics this young African man was saying. Just when I was giving up on hip hop K'Naan gave it hope! I've been trying to find his album since the concert and was so disappointed when I couldn't. It wasn't until today that I told my son to play that catchy Flag tune. it wasn't until I saw his photo that I realized that I couldn't find his album because I was searching for k-9 all… Continue

Check out this interview CBS news did with K'Naan. They ask him some very specific questions about what he thinks about the situation in Haiti and what he thinks about the world's reaction. Really interesting to see what his view point is. He has a very realistic way of looking at things.
after hearing wavin' flag so many times, i never really quite understood its meaning, can someone please give me the just of the song? kind of like what its about etc.

I just saw it in IMAX 3D at the Scotiabank theatre. The movie got so many achievements. Pandora was so immersive, the animation just so unreal. I also liked how Cameron used this story as a vehicle for making some strong statements about the human condition and racism.
A couple things I would have liked to have seen : developing the personality of each character a little bit more, a better and perhaps more memorable musical score that tied… Continue
If you haven't witnessed a K'naan performance you have truly missed out on the roller coaster of feelings and emotions his music takes you through as he paints a picture of "struggle and fight to keep your dream alive" during times of no hope. K'naan is refreshing to the mind and stirs the soul as he motivates while sharing instances of his turbulent existence. Although he can relate with Hip-Hop's thuggish culture, he walks a tight rope between "Gettin Niggy Wit It" on a third world level and… Continue
Hey Everyone...I'm sure you've all been hearing and reading about the situation in Haiti and how much support is needed for those people. I found this article from the Star.com about tonight's "Canada for Haiti" concert. It says that K'Naan is performing, I wonder if he really is??? There isn't anything listed on his website about it. I think it's great if he does show his support. Performers have a great outlet to have their voices heard and his is definitely a strong one! Every little… Continue

I stayed up past a prudent time last night and clicked the remote from late night show to late night show, looking for tidbits on Conan, Dave and Jimmy on Jay and the current NBC debacle. I soon tired of this and watched Tavis Smiley. Tavis had a quest on last night's airing named Jim Wallis. Jim wrote a book that he was hawking titled Rediscovering Values. Jim, founder-editor of Sojourners magazine, is also a Reverend and seemingly committed to social justice. I was easily seduced by his… Continue
